| Founded |
| Manhattan Academy was founded in 1975, based on the pioneering work of Dr. Maria Montessori. Her work demonstrates the strength, independence, creativity, and joy present in all children. Manhattan Academy is dedicated to helping each child develop within himself/herself a confidence in these capacities. |

| Manhattan Academy, Incorporated is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services, is registered with the California Department of Education, and is a member of AMS, the American Montessori Society. |

| Manhattan Academy admits students of any race, color, creed or national origin and does not discriminate on the above basis in the administration of its educational or admission policies. |
| Programs Available |
| Toddler: 18-30 months of age. No need to be toilet-trained; we do that! |
| Primary: 2.5-6 years of age; must be toilet trained. Applicants will be observed informally by the Academy's teaching staff, so as to determine appropriate placement. |
| Upper Primary: 5-7 yrs of age. Must meet particular academic requirements. Applicants will be interviewed and tested informally by the teaching staff. Copies of previous school records, if applicable, are required (including attendance reports and report cards). |
| Elementary and Middle School: Grades 1-8. Applicants will be given a short, written exam in the areas of math and reading comprehension, as well as be interviewed by school administration. Copies of previous school records, including attendance reports, report cards, and standardized testing results are required. |
